Hungry

Breeding soon

They're trying to speed up the pace. They need just a little encouragement from better weather and a good food supply.

Aw, those are very cute chickadees! I'm glad someone was thoughtful enough to put out a feeder for them.

YES!! The little things are HUNGRY!!

I'll add some audio as soon as I can catch it with the good mic (the AT-825). It's a lot harder than you think to get them to give their trademark vocals close enough for a good recording.

Was nice to watch the titmouse eating seeds just like in our garden here in Finland. I could almost hear the voices too.
Have a nice springtime and good luck to your nature filmings.

Hei Antti!

So nice to see you stop by!

I have from last year a good picture of a Tufted Titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor) here: http://maineowl.net/blog/it...

The Black-capped Chickadee (Poecile atricapilla) is the state bird of Maine.

The last couple days the feeder has been very busy: Northern Cardinal (M & F), Tree Sparrow, both Red- and White-breasted Nuthatch, Blue Jay, Tufted Titmouse.

I'll post more soon.

Shouldn't forget the Slate-colored Juncos, they've been out there almost constantly.
